MIN

Dr. Alejandro Vila is a Rosario-based scientific researcher, globally recognized in the field of metallo-β-lactamase (MBL)-mediated bacterial resistance. He is a senior researcher at CONICET, a full professor at the Faculty of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the National University of Rosario, works at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Rosario and is currently the scientific director of UNR’s incubator.

This prestigious academy has recognized his outstanding career and important contributions to bacterial resistance research, including studies on the structure, function, and evolution of metallo-β-lactamases, their impact on bacterial resistance, inhibitor design, and their life cycle within bacteria. These studies aim to identify the Achilles’ heel of these enzymes to stop their spread in the clinic.

The inclusion of Alejandro Vila in the American Academy of Microbiology is a great honor and recognition of his outstanding scientific career. It is a significant achievement not only for him but also for the scientific community in Argentina and internationally.

The American Academy of Microbiology is a leading scientific organization in the field of microbiology, with the goal of promoting knowledge and understanding of microbiology. Membership in the American Academy of Microbiology is awarded to researchers and scientists who have made important contributions to the field of microbiology. The inclusion of Alejandro Vila in this prestigious academy is a recognition of his outstanding career.

We congratulate Dr. Vila on this great achievement and look forward to his continued contributions in the field of microbiology, with a positive impact on public health and science in general.

Paper Release on @MolMicroEditors👉Research on two-component systems in B. subtilis shows that YvfT/YvfU regulates the yvfRS operon and interacts with DesK/DesR. This reveals cross-regulation between homologous TCSs to fine-tune gene expression in response to environmental cues.
